Why is Manchester City dragging Declan Rice with Arsenal?

West Ham have decided to sell captain Declan Rice, but not without cashing out big.

The Hammers are not letting Rice go for anything less than £100million. Arsenal and Manchester City are currently in a bidding war for his signature.

The question most Arsenal fans will be asking is "Why is Manchester City in the race for Rice?" I will try to answer as best as I can with 3 points.

Rice is a good player

The most important reason is Declan Rice is an amazing player. He has shown all season long how important he is to West ham and how amazing he can be for any team he joins.

Coupled with the fact that he also won West Ham their first title in over 40 years when they won the Europa Conference League. It is obvious he is a star and should be treated as such.

Manchester City have an eye for amazing talent and it seems Pep has some interest in Declan joining the team. However, with their recent bid rejected, one will have to see how much they really want him.

Arsenal need Rice more than City it would seem, but they might not have the warchest that City have especially after the Treble triumph.

He is a leader

Rice led the West Ham team on an amazing Europa Conference League campaign where they ended up victorious. It shows how resilient he is as a leader and as a player. His personality is another reason any manager will want him in their team. His connection with fans also plays a major role especially off the pitch.

The best in his position

In my opinion, Declan Rice is currently the best player in his position and can displace any other midfielder in the league.

With his stats, it is obvious he can do so much more with better players around him and that is why he is worth £100million.

Declan Rice vs Rodri stats

Even besides Rodri who is labeled as the best holding midfielder in the Premier League, Rice still shows why he should be in the conversation.

Conclusion

West Ham have rejected man City's latest offer and are waiting for Arsenal's next offer

It might be a long transfer window for Arsenal who might be looking to add more than just Rice to the team as they look to put the disappointing season behind them.

So, when you wonder why Manchester City also want in on Rice, he is just too good to be passed up especially by a team looking to win the EPL for the 4th time in a row.
